I CAN HERRINGBONE by Melissa Grakowsky

I CAN HERRINGBONE: From basic stitch to advanced techniques, a comprehensive workbook for beaders by Melissa Grakowsky Published by Lark Crafts an Imprint of Sterling Publishing Co., This 128 page paperback has 26 Jewelry projects with 360 Illustrations. Melissa Grakowsky has won numerous prizes for her Jewelry designs and her beaded Masks. Some of the contest she won are: Grand Prize in the Fire Mountain Gems and Beads 2010 polymer clay contest, Bead Star's 2010 top prize in glass beads, and third place in the 2009 Bead Dreams Objects and accessories category. Melissa also regularly teaches workshops Nationally and Internationally and loves to share with and learn from students. In Chapter one of Melissa's meticulously laid out book you get the lowdown on all the materials and tools needed to complete the 26 projects. In chapter two you will discover the flat herringbone stitch and the ladder stitch which is a companion stitch to herringbone. This chapter is also accompanied with a terminology chart which is a major plus in my book. The projects also begin in this chapter. In the chapters that follow this chapter you will learn different variations of the herringbone stitch and each variation is accompanied by projects. Then in Chapter Six Melissa will show you how to capture stones in your beadwork. She does this by using three different methods of using stones as focal points. On pages 120-124 you are treated to a gallery of Jewelry created by various artist. On Page 125 You will see a gallery of a couple of Melissa's Creations. On page 126 you get the appendix , a list of seed beads used in the projects in this book just in case you want to replicate a project. Page 127: acknowledgement and a write up on author. Page 128: the index. This spectacular beading publication is full of gorgeous projects with easy to follow written instructions accompanied by 360 easy to follow Illustrations. If you are an avid Herringbone artist you will want this book for the various projects.
